Mr C. David H. Wrede
Is an experienced surgical Gynaecologist, who is currently Consultant and Lead for the Dysplasia service at The Royal Women’s Hospital. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Melbourne and Honorary Consultant to the Familial Cancer Clinic at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. Born in London, he trained in medicine at Cambridge University and St Thomas’ Hospital and subsequently in general surgery and obstetrics and gynaecology (London and Birmingham) with a period of research at the Ludwig Institute, London, investigating the role of HPV in cervical cancer.
David’s interests include:
- Gynaecological cancer prevention including colposcopy and familial cancer
- Benign gynaecology
- Advanced laparoscopic surgery
- Complex gynaecological surgery including placental adhesive disorders
David is a member of the Board of the Victorian Cytology Service; Secretary to the management Committee of the Australian Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Cancer Prevention; a member of the Medical & Scientific Committee of the Cancer Council Victoria.
He is actively involved in the Renewal of Australia’s cervical cancer screening program as a member of the Victorian Renewal Advisory Committee and the Federal Working Party that has authored new clinical management guidelines.
